How To Learn The Books Of The Bible Easy
Every Christian should memorize the books of the One-time Testament. The Bible is the word of God. It chronicles the journey of faith for those who love God and are loved past God.
The Bible is filled with testimonies, instruction, guidance, worship, and hope. Information technology is foundational to knowing God. If a book is that of import, then we need to make memorizing the order of the books a priority so that nosotros are better equipped to utilise the Bible.
It is helpful to memorize the books of the Old Attestation when we realize that at that place is a structure to the Old Testament. There are collections of books that are held together past common themes or types. On the library shelves, we will find that history books are together.
In the same way, there is a special department for poetry books. So it is with the Quondam Testament likewise. These groups can exist very beneficial in memorizing the sets of books, only also in understanding the Former Testament as a whole.
How to memorize the books of the Old Testament? I am going to share with y'all the strategy that I have used for years in Sun School and with my children to aid them. (To be honest, this is how I finally cemented them into my memory too!)
Memorization Starts with Organisation
The Old Testament is divided into five groups: Constabulary, History, Poetry, Major Prophets, and Minor Prophets. Help your child/student notice this organisation.
At that place are wonderful images out there to use to help children visualize these groups. We are going to break our memorization goal down into chunks based on these 5 major groups.
Introduce each section and echo that section, with intensity and frequency, until it is mastered past the group/child. Then, add the side by side department. Keep the numbers iii & 5 in mind equally these will be the bite-sized chunks we use to create out memorization groups.
Memorize the Old Attestation past Singing the Books?
What about a song? Wouldn't this be easier with a song? Yes, and no.
We sing an Former Attestation song to aid in our memorization at our firm. A vocal can get a crutch though. So, instead of knowing that Daniel comes after Ezekiel, you find that you have to sing the song from the get-go until you lot go to Daniel.
The Bible is so important that we want mastery. This method works well alongside a song but helps us move past the limitations of the song.
Department #ane Law – Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Number, Deuteronomy
This group of five works perfect for your hand. Use the finger from the other hand and signal to each finger in turn as y'all repeat the names of the books over and over again.
Department #two History – Joshua, Judges, Ruth, ist Samuel, 2nd Samuel, 1st Kings, 2nd Kings, 1st Chronicles, 2nd Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther
The beginning set up of iii: Joshua, Judges, Ruth. This set up, I brand into a sentence: Joshua judges Ruth. Of grade, Ruth and Joshua never met each other in existent life. Joshua never sabbatum in judgment of Ruth. But those three books in a row sound like a judgement.
The adjacent set of 3 is actually half dozen: 1st & 2nd Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles.
The concluding fix of 3 in this grouping: Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther => ENE. This grouping gives yous three sets of 3 letters: JJR, SKC, & ENE.
Section #3 Poetry – Task, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon
The initials are JPPES. Make this into a discussion that sticks with your child or grouping. Insert an "o" to get JoPPES. Insert an "um" and go JumPPES. Use whatever funny, corny, or silly thing that sticks in the kids' brains.
Section #iv Major Prophets – Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel
Make this 1 into a name similar I.J. Led. To memorize this, I insert a film of a LED light bulb. Prophets aid people run into the light. Prophets show us the right way to follow God. Point to your heart and say I (Isaiah) Then, make a swooping "J" with your pinky finger (Jeremiah).
Afterwards that, I concur a pretend LED lightbulb higher up my head (Lamentations, Ezekiel, & Daniel.) Prophets assist people see the light and testify us the right fashion to God.
(Cheesy? Whatever it takes!)
Section #v Pocket-size Prophets – Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi
This concluding section is the most challenging. There are twelve minor prophets to memorize! Dissever these guys up into four groups of iii. The first 2 sets share a "J" prophet in the middle. The last two sets share a "Z" prophet, the first at the end and the second in the heart.
If yous write these downwards, yous will see a design sally. Circle these patterns like you were working on a crossword puzzle. These patterns create a great mental film to help organize all these modest prophets.
Detect that the prophets in the first two sets have slightly shorter names than in the terminal two sets. This can create a rhythm when you repeat them.
Once more repetition is the key. Say each set up of three over and once again until they are a prepare piece in your head.
Frequency & Intensity are the Keys to Memorizing the Old Testament
This is one mode of memorizing the books of the Old Testament. There are many creative ideas out there. We are all unique, and some tips may piece of work amend for one person than for another.
